LAFLA offers legal assistance to low-income individuals through their Domestic Violence Clinics and Self-Help Centers located throughout Los Angeles (see locations below). The Self-Help Centers are walk-in clinics that offer individuals who are representing themselves legal information, guidance, and assistance in preparing legal forms.

How to Apply:
Eligibility: Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles follows federal poverty guidelines and assists only people with income less than 125% of the federal poverty guidelines. However, sometimes people with income over 125% of the federal poverty guidelines can qualify as well. Call LAFLA at 800-399-4529 to see if you are eligible.
Cost: All services are provided free of charge.
“Self-help centers are open to walk-ins for limited services. See our schedule. However, litigants may contact us through the LAFLA self-help hotline at 213-235-0060 for remote assistance. Cost: CAVC Legal Department provides no-cost and low-cost legal services for residents of Ventura County in the areas of family law, housing and landlord-tenant disputes, restraining orders, guardianships, conservatorships, civil matters, wills, and general legal information. The State of California has income guidelines that must be met in order to receive these no-cost services. CAVC’s Legal Department also provides legal assistance at reasonable rates for clients that do not qualify for “no-cost” services under the CSBG or CDBG grants. There are many residents of Ventura County that do not meet the income guidelines required by the State of California but also do not have the income to afford a document preparation service or paralegal service, much less the services of an attorney. For this reason, the Legal Department of the CAVC has developed a program to meet the legal needs of this community. The fees charged are much more affordable in comparison to other discount legal providers serving the same demographics.
